Overview of Nepal Muktinath Tour Package 3 Nights 4 Days

Nepal Muktinath Tour Package 2026 takes you to Muktinath which is one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Nepal and an important tourist destination. Both religious value and breathtaking Himalayan scenery are available at this site.

Muktinath Temple is one of Nepal's most revered spiritual sites for both Hindus and Buddhists. It is located in the Mustang District of Northern Nepal at approximately 3700–3800 m  elevation near the Thorong-La pass.

Thousands of pilgrims and travelers visit this area to receive blessings from the deity as well as view the magnificent scenery of the mountains.

Muktinath comes from the two words Mukti (meaning liberation or salvation) and Nath (meaning God).

Visiting this temple and bathing in the 108 holy waters (the temple has 108 spouts of holy water), according to Hindu belief, will cleanse an individual of all sins, resulting in spiritual liberation. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and Buddha sees this temple as Avalokiteshvara, resulting in Muktinath being a strong symbol of religious unity.

This tour will take you through some of the most magnificent locations within Nepal. But it's also considered an unforgettable adventure in its own right. As you traverse these areas, you'll see many varying geographical formations. These include beautiful lakes, mountains, spectacular valleys like Jomsom and picturesque farm villages like Marpha of the Thakalis. You'll have plenty of time to visit them all.

Along your journey, you'll experience varied, dramatic and unique landscapes. These include enormously large rock formations from the higher Himalayan region. You'll also see deep gorges that drop off into valleys approximately 1,500 feet below. And the geological features don't stop there. There are also vast dunes and desert-type conditions that make this landscape truly one of a kind.

This Muktinath pilgrimage tour is designed for those who are both physically active and spiritually minded. So you can experience not only the amazing beauty of the Himalayas but also your ability to find both physical and spiritual peace within a relatively short period of time. This package includes hotel accommodations, secured ground transportation and professionally trained guides. So you're assured of a very enjoyable, safe and memorable experience of one of the holiest and most beautiful places in Nepal.

The Muktinath Tour Package is a wonderful journey filled with purity, culture and adventure. So if you're in search of an enriching experience, it's the perfect choice.

This Muktinath Tour Package from Kathmandu will leave an imprint on your heart and soul. Whether you're a Hindu devotee who prays to Lord Vishnu, a Buddhist follower visiting the famous Chumig Gyatsa shrine, or simply someone drawn to the rugged beauty of the Mustang Himalayas, you'll find something deeply meaningful here.

Travellers who are waiting to receive their visas for another pilgrimage, such as the Mount Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, can take advantage of our Muktinath Special Tour to visit one of Nepal’s most sacred places and experience for themselves the many spectacular landscapes in the Mustang area while they wait.

We are now taking bookings for both tours. If you wish to mix these two wonderful spiritual trips together, you may check our Muktinath and Kailash Mansarovar joint package for prices beginning at USD 2950 per person. Tours are available for the 2026, 2027 and 2028 travel seasons, and early booking is suggested.

Visitors from certain countries are able to visit Kailash Yatra without a visa before travelling to Kailash Yatra; there is no requirement for these visitors to wait for their visas before travelling to China, as there are certain countries that do not require a visa to enter China for a short period of time. These countries include Brunei; France; Germany; Italy; Spain; the Netherlands; Switzerland; Ireland; Hungary; Austria; Belgium; Luxembourg; New Zealand; Australia; Poland; Portugal; Greece; Cyprus; Slovenia; Slovakia; Norway; Finland; Denmark; Iceland; Andorra; Monaco; Liechtenstein; South Korea; Bulgaria; Romania; Croatia; Montenegro; North Macedonia; Malta; Estonia; Latvia; Japan; Brazil; Argentina; Chile; Peru; Uruguay; Saudi Arabia; Oman; Kuwait; Bahrain; Russia; Sweden; Canada; and the United Kingdom; therefore, residents from these countries may stay in China for up to thirty (30) days for tourist or other purposes without the requirement of a visa.

If you are not from one of the countries listed above, you may have to wait a few days in Nepal to complete the visa process before continuing with your spiritual journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar by participating in both the Muktinath tour and exploring Pokhara and Mustang during the time you are waiting for the visa to be approved.

What is the Nepal Muktinath Tour Package?

Nepal's Muktinath Tour Package provides you with an amazing pilgrimage journey and an unforgettable sightseeing experience. It takes you from Kathmandu to the holy Muktinath Temple at 3,800m, located in the Mustang region of Nepal. This 3-night, 4-day trip will take you to Pokhara, Jomsom, Kagbeni, Marpha and Muktinath. So you'll get the best of everything in the Mustang Valley via scenic flights over the Himalayas and private jeep transfers.

Many Hindus consider Muktinath one of the 108 Divya Desam Vishnu temples. Buddhists regard Muktinath as Chumig Gyatsa, the sacred source of 108 waters. So Muktinath is one of the most spiritually powerful places in Asia. And this tour package is one of the best ways to visit it in 2026.

About Muktinath Temple

Muktinath Temple is a famous temple of the Hindu God Vishnu, located at 3800 meters above sea level in the Mustang District of Nepal, and is one of the 108 "Divya Desams," being the 108 Vishnu temples of Hinduism. Hundreds of thousands of Hindu pilgrims come from India, Nepal, and around the world to visit this temple, as it is one of the most important religious pilgrimage sites for Hindus globally, making it one of the four most holy Hindu temples.

For Buddhists, this site is known as Chumig Gyatsa, which means "Hundred Waters." This sacred site is especially significant in Tibetan Buddhism and is a place of great religious significance. In addition to the large monastery adjacent to the temple and the presence of the five elements of nature (earth, fire, water, sky, and air), all in the same place, it has a uniquely powerful spiritual significance to pilgrims who come from all over the world.

One of the most sacred rituals performed at Muktinath is to bathe in one of the 108 sacred water flows. These are created in the shape of a cow's head by the priestesses of the temple. You'll also enter the two holy water pools called "Kunda." And the final part of the ritual is to witness the eternal flame, where natural gas burns above a flowing stream of water. It's known as a miracle from God. So for pilgrims who make this journey, it's an experience that stays with them long after they return home.

It is believed that once a pilgrimage is completed through this ritual, you will receive moksha (final liberation).

Max Altitude: 850 meters Meals: BreakfastAccommodation: Hotel

You will start your Muktinath Tour Package 2026 when our team collects you from your hotel in Kathmandu and transfers you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. This domestic flight is about 25 minutes long, and the views from above will be dramatic, with amazing views of the snow-covered Himalayas and snow-capped peaks (Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain)) as you go over the Kathmandu Valley as the plane climbs into the air.

Upon landing at Pokhara Airport, our local client service representative will greet you and assist you in transferring to your hotel. Once you have time to clean up, you will begin your day-long guided sightseeing excursion around beautiful Pokhara, visiting some of Nepal’s most famous landmarks.

Phewa Lake

We will take you to Phewa Lake, the second-largest lake in Nepal and the most photographed lake in the country. On a clear, calm morning, the reflection of the Annapurna mountains on the lake will remain in your mind forever. As part of your Muktinath tour from Kathmandu, we will set up for a relaxing boat ride across the lake.

Tal Barahi Temple

The Tal Barahi Temple is located on an island in the middle of Phewa Lake, and can only be reached by boat. The temple is one of the most important Hindu temples in Pokhara. Our guide will help you get enough time to visit the temple, watch some rituals, and enjoy the calm and tranquillity of the temple before we continue on our trip.

Devi's Fall

Your guide will show you Devi's Fall, a beautiful waterfall that drops down through a narrow gorge before disappearing into the ground completely. It is a dramatic sight to behold.

Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave

Directly across from Devi's Fall, the Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The cave stretches far into the side of the hill, with beautiful rock formations and a running stream inside.

International Mountain Museum

The International Mountain Museum is the main place to visit if you want to learn about the Himalayas' history, culture and mountaineering legacy. It's also the perfect place to learn about all of the mountains you'll be flying over on day two of the Nepal Muktinath Tour. So if you've got time in Pokhara, don't miss it.

Sarangkot Viewpoint

The best way to experience the Sarangkot viewpoint is if you can get there at sunrise; the view from Sarangkot is absolutely beautiful.

World Peace Pagoda

The World Peace Pagoda is another place that you will visit, and it has some of the best views in the world.

Once you've experienced all these amazing places, your guides will take you back to your hotel in Pokhara. You'll spend the night there and prepare for the most important and spiritual day of your entire Muktinath Yatra. On a quiet night like this, you'll be glad you rested up before the big day ahead.

Overnight stay at Pokhara.

Max Altitude: 3,800 meters Meals: Breakfast and DinnerAccommodation: Hotel or Guesthouse

Day 02 is the holiest and most spiritually uplifting day of your Nepal Muktinath tour package 2026. Your guide will wake to prepare you for an optional short transfer from Pokhara to the Pokhara Airport early in the morning.

From here, guests will take an approximately 20 to 25-minute scenic flight over the mountains from Pokhara to Jomsom. As guests ascend through the Kali Gandaki Valley, they will fly adjacent to the massive walls of snow in Annapurna and Dhaulagiri, two of the ten highest mountains in the world and will view the Kali Gandaki gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, cut into the earth with a massive scar through the Himalayas. Many of the guests often call this flight one of the greatest memories from their Muktinath yatra (pilgrimage) to Kathmandu.

At Jomsom Airport (2,720m), our private vehicle, either a Land Cruiser or Scorpio, will take you directly to Muktinath Temple. The jeep trip through Mustang Valley is unlike anything else; it is a spectacular trip with breathtaking scenery, including high altitude desert land, shaped rock formations, many ancient terraced fields and numerous traditional Himalayan villages which are virtually immortal.

On our way to the site of Muktinath Temple and the surrounding area, we will stop for a brief history of Kagbeni (a charming medieval-looking stone village of mud-brick houses with flat roofs), which marks the confluence of the Kali Gandaki and Jhong rivers and is the gateway to Upper Mustang, the area north of the Kali Gandaki (government-protected area).

On arriving at Muktinath Temple (3,800m), our vehicle will park at the temple entrance. To get to the temple itself from the base of Muktinath (the last 10 to 15 minutes of the trip), you have two options:

  • Walk up the gentle paved path, taking in the fresh air of the Himalayas; or
  • Take a ride on a traditional Mustang mountain horse (a unique experience at high altitude, arranged locally by our team).

Muktinath Temple offers a complete guide to the actions you need to take if you wish to complete a ritual of Muktinath Darshan.

Muktinath Temple Main Shrine

Our experience begins at the main temple shrine for Lord Vishnu, here known as Mukti Nath (the Lord of Salvation and Moksha). It is one of 108 Divya Desams, or holiest Vishnu temples in the world; darshan here is believed to grant you liberation (or freedom) from the continual cycle of birth and death.

108 Sacred Water Spouts

Our team guides you through the most iconic ritual of the Muktinath Yatra, bathing under all 108 of the sacred water spouts arranged around the temple in a semicircle and shaped like the heads of cows. This ritual is thought to completely cleanse all of your sins and purify your spirit.

Mukti Kunda

Our guides also take you to the two holy ponds, Mukti Kunda and Saraswati Kunda, which are among the most spiritually purifying experiences you can have on the Nepal Muktinath Tour Package.

Jwala Mai

Jwala Mai, the perpetual light, is a miraculous sight to behold when you are on your Muktinath pilgrimage. The Jwala Mai temple is where a continuous flame is found over a body of water, and the combination of these two elements is seen as a miracle and representation of all 5 elements together (fire, water, earth, air, and spirit).

Chumig Gyatsa

The Chumig Gyatsa Monastery is next to the Hindu shrine described above, and it is an ancient Buddhist monastery, revered by Tibetan Buddhists. Our guide will tell you about the history behind this site and give you a tour of the stunning artwork in the monastery.

After you have completed the Muktinath Darshan, our team will take you back to your hotel in Muktinath to have a hot meal and rest for the night. Muktinath is located in the Mustang Himalayas at an elevation of 3,800 meters.

Your overnight accommodation will be in Muktinath.

Max Altitude: 2,743 meters Meals: Breakfast and DinnerAccommodation: Hotel or Guesthouse

On Day 3 of Your Nepal Muktinath Tour Package 2026, you will be transported by our team from Muktinath down into the breathtaking Mustang Valley, where you can enjoy a full day of culture and nature before returning to Jomsom for your final night.

Dhumba Lake

(The first stop is) to the picturesque location of Dhumba Lake, a serene mountain lake located in the heart of the Himalayas, with a majestic backdrop consisting of the beautiful forested hills and the Himalayan mountain peaks. Even though there are strong winds that blow through the Kali Gandaki Valley, Dhumba Lake provides a fantastic, tranquil environment to enjoy this wonderful natural setting for a period of time before we continue on to Marpha.

Marpha

(The 2nd stop is) to the famous Marpha Village, one of the most beautiful, best preserved, and unique villages in all of Mustang. Marpha is known as "The Apple Capital of Nepal". The town consists of whitewashed stone houses, narrow wind-sheltered cobblestone paths, and traditional Thakali architecture, which has hardly changed in hundreds of years.

In your free time in Marpha, our trip offers you a chance to step away from the trails and meander through the old town at your leisure. You will be accompanied by your guide, who will give details of the culture, traditions and history of this unique area.  You'll also hear many of the stories associated with the people who live there.

In Marpha, we recommend the following:

Explore the Marpha Monastery

Your guide will take you to Marpha's ancient monastery, located above the village. It's considered to have some of the best views in the entire Kali Gandaki Valley and of the village of Marpha below. These beautiful views have influenced countless traders and tourists throughout time.

Try Marpha's Famous Apples

You simply don't leave Marpha without tasting some of the famous fruits that have made it famous. These include fresh apple juice, fresh apple cider vinegar, dried apples, homemade apple jam, apple wine and apple brandy produced locally. And all of these products are made by family-owned businesses that have passed their recipes down through generations.

Meet the Thakali People

The Thakali people are one of the oldest and most hospitable groups in Nepal. For a very long time, they have satisfied the needs of travellers and traders on the Himalayan salt routes. And they do it with their unique food, culture and warm hospitality.

We return to Jomsom, the administrative center of the Mustang district, by winding our way back through the Kali Gandaki Valley in the late afternoon to take part in a peaceful evening walk around this windy high-altitude area.

Jomsom is known for its strong afternoon winds that travel through the valley, making it a stunning natural event to witness prior to your departure from Mustang for the last time on this trip.

Spend a night at Jomsom additionally.

Max Altitude: 1400 meters Meals: Breakfast

Your Nepal Muktinath Tour Package journey ends here on the last day after 3 nights and 4 days. This morning you will be transferred early to the airport for your flight to Pokhara and on to Kathmandu where our journey will end.

As you leave the mountain region of Mustang, take a moment of reflection. Look down on the valley below from your airplane. You've just completed an amazing journey. You visited the sacred site of Muktinath Temple and witnessed the sacred fire of Jwala Mai. You bathed in the 108 water spouts and walked the old narrow streets of Marpha. You also took in the breathtaking scenery of the Kali Gandaki Gorge and met the kind, friendly people of Mustang Valley. It's a journey you'll carry with you long after you arrive home.

When you arrive in Kathmandu, one of our staff will meet you at the airport and assist with your transfer to your hotel and ensure that the rest of your travel plans are properly arranged. In Muktinath, you will have memories and blessings for the rest of your life as your Nepal Muktinath Tour Package concludes here.

Our staff will continue to be available after the tour has been completed for any assistance you may require, whether it is regarding future travel to Upper Mustang, Kailash Mansarovar, Tibet, or Bhutan; we are always willing to help our clients create their next journey.

Perfect weather, good road conditions and views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and the Mustang Himalayas are what make October stand out above all other months.

Winter in Nepal: December through February

Muktinath Temple is open during the winter months. It's the perfect time for serious pilgrims looking for solitude. It also provides a unique and powerful spiritual experience. But as the weather is quite random, our team suggests carrying proper clothing for warm temperatures. You’ll also want to keep your travel dates flexible in case of flight delays from bad weather. On cold winter nights up here, you'll be glad you came prepared.

Monsoon: June to August

The Mustang area average precipitation amounts are considerably lower than most of the country due to being located on the dry side of the Himalayas. Many times during this time frame, flights from Pokhara to Jomsom are delayed or even canceled. Although the Nepal Muktinath Tour Package can be operated during the monsoon season, our staff recommends scheduling with flexibility in mind.

How to Reach Muktinath from Kathmandu in 2026

Located in the high-altitude Mustang district, Muktinath isn't realistically reached with a one-day road trip from Kathmandu. But here are some of the routes our team uses:

Standard Route: The Route Our Team Follows

  • Step 1: Kathmandu to Pokhara via a 25-minute domestic flight from Tribhuvan International Airport.

  • Step 2: Pokhara to Jomsom via the iconic 20 to 25-minute flight across the mountains. You'll arrive at Jomsom Airport at 2,720m with Tara Air or Summit Air.

  • Step 3: Jomsom to Muktinath via a private jeep drive of just over an hour and a half through the Mustang Valley to Muktinath Temple at 3,800m.

Helicopter Route

  • Kathmandu to Muktinath: around 60 to 75 minutes by helicopter.

  • Pokhara to Muktinath: just 30 minutes by helicopter.

Full Overland Route: Kathmandu to Muktinath by Jeep

Driving overland by jeep from Kathmandu to Muktinath through Beni, Tatopani, Marpha and Jomsom is a full 2 to 3 days on the road. But upon request, our team can prepare a fully customised overland Muktinath tour itinerary for you.

Altitude Information & Acclimatization for Muktinath Yatra

Muktinath Temple is positioned at an elevation of 3,800m or 12,467ft. While this isn't considered an extreme elevation, some travellers may develop mild altitude sickness symptoms. These include headache, dizziness and shortness of breath, particularly if they're not used to being at such high elevations.

The Nepal Muktinath Tour Package is structured to provide a gradual ascent. You'll start Day 1 in Pokhara at 850m. Then on Day 2, you'll fly from Pokhara to Jomsom at 2,720m. And later on the same day, you'll take an approximately two-hour drive from Jomsom to Muktinath Temple at 3,800m. So your body gets multiple opportunities, although limited, to adapt to the new altitude. We also recommend that you drink plenty of fluids and refrain from drinking alcohol on the day of arrival at altitude. And don't hesitate to advise your guide promptly if you feel any discomfort upon arrival at your new elevation.

Required Permits for Muktinath Darshan: 2026 Updated Rates

To access the Annapurna Conservation Area, all travellers must have 2 different specific permits. As of February 2026, the fee structure established by the Nepal Tourism Board has been adjusted to provide funds for local sustainability projects.

Critical 2026 Update: As of December 31, 2026, all permits issued by the Nepali Government will require proof that you hold travel insurance. It must cover emergency medical evacuation by helicopter from above 4,000m. We'll work with you to complete and submit all of the necessary paperwork for your permit. You'll only need to provide us with a digital copy of a valid form of ID and valid travel insurance.

Document Requirements for Indian Citizens (2026-2027)

Indian nationals don't require a visa or passport to enter Nepal via land or air. But to complete the Muktinath Yatra, there are specific ID requirements to pass through a security checkpoint and check in for your flight.

  • Accepted forms of ID include your original Voter ID or a current, valid Indian passport. While Aadhaar is acceptable for land entrance to Nepal, it's NOT an accepted form of ID for air travel between Pokhara and Jomsom. So to avoid being denied boarding at the Nepal airport, always carry your valid Voter ID or Passport.

  • You'll also want to carry 3 to 4 passport-size photographs with you for your permit application submission.

Road Conditions in the Lower Mustang

The drive from Pokhara to Jomsom has some breathtaking views. But it's definitely a mountain road. As of 2026, around 80 percent of the roads are paved. But the section of road that runs along the Kali Gandaki River bed is still off-road. So what's it actually like? You'll find dusty, bumpy roads with no shortage of amazing views of the 8,000m peaks.

It's raw and real, and that's part of what makes it so memorable. That's why we only use only 4WD Scorpio Jeeps as their high ground clearance gives them the ability to navigate through the river crossings without getting stuck. So you'll get through safely and comfortably, even on the roughest stretches of the route.

We send every traveler a complete packing list when they confirm their booking.
